History BagelFest 5K/HEB 1K emphasizes and delivers fun, health, and fitness at its upcoming 7th annual race in Northwest Austin on Sunday, May 18, 2008. The race brings together residents, runners, walkers and businesses, while benefiting the Austin Jewish Academy Scholarship Fund (K through 8) and The March of Dimes Foundation. BagelFest 5K/HEB 1K began in 2002 with 550 runners, 50 door prizes donated by neighborhood businesses and 15 corporate sponsors. This year, organizers expect BagelFest 5K/HEB 1K to continue growing with even more runners, fun and bagels! BagelFest 5K/HEB 1K has donated more than $100,000. It has established a reputation as an excellent race featuring a fast course through the streets of Northwest Austin as well as for its many door prizes at the finish line. The last mile of the USATF certified course (TX01024JF) is mostly downhill. From its inaugural run, BagelFest 5K/HEB 1K has provided runners with fun, fitness, door prizes and "all the bagels you can eat!".
